TRES SÁBADOS DE DIBUJO MUY DIFERENTES - Three saturdays of drawing very different

Hace tres sábados empecé una serie de bocetos de mujeres con pelo muy largo. Tal vez porque se empieza con mucho afán y con el tiempo ese afán va decayendo o, tal vez porque las tres tardes se sucedieron de manera muy distinta, los bocetos no terminaron de cuajar.

A pesar de ello, habrá más. Mis ratos libres de sábados tarde estarán dedicados a mujeres de pelo muy largo. Me gustan, me divierten, me relajan.

Three Saturdays ago I started a series of sketches of women with very long hair. Maybe because I start with great eagerness and eventually that desire will decline or, perhaps because the three evenings occurred very differently, the three sketches curdle not finished.
There will be more. My free times Saturday afternoons will be dedicated to women with very long hair. I like them, they fun me, I relax drawing them.

UNA TARDE DE DIBUJO CUALQUIERA - An evening drawing

Hay días en los que me apetece dibujar, mucho, mucho, ¡mucho!.

Hace unos días, mi tarde discurrió así. Empezó con unos tulipanes no muy amistosos; un deforme trazo dibujado por mi hija María en un papel acabó por sugerirme una serie de personajes curiosos. Cuando me harté, dibujé a una mujer cejuda en traje de neopreno.

La hoja en blanco estaba rellena. Las ganas de dibujar, apaciguadas. Fin.

Some days I need to sketch, drawing much.
One of these evenings was running so. It started with a not very friendly tulips; later, a deformed shape drawn by my daughter Mary on paper finally suggest me a world of curious characters. When I got tired, I drew my browed woman in wetsuit. 
The empty page was filled. The desire to draw, appeased. The end.

INFLUENCIAS - Influences

El miércoles por la tarde realicé este dibujo. Empecé dibujando a la mujer de rasgos africanos del fondo. Recibí una llamada de teléfono y continué con la mujer del primer plano. Sus rasgos se dibujaron durante y después del transcurso de esa conversación. No fue un diálogo agradable.
Mi mujer del primer plano, no pude evitarlo, fui yo. ¿Os pasa?

On Wednesday afternoon I made this drawing. I started drawing women from behind. I received a phone call and continue with the woman in front. Her face was drawn during and after the course of that conversation. It was not a pleasant dialogue.
My woman in front, I was. Do you matter? Are you unintentionally reveal it in your stories, designs or drawings?

Tengo que ilustrar varias láminas de pequeño tamaño, de 7 centímetros de ancho y 14 de alto, en concreto, y me está costando muchísimo trabajo encontrar inspiración. 
Mi 'Mujer en el bosque' inicial y mi 'Mujer en el bosque' final, con algunas ramas de menos y algunos retoques por más que dar. 
I have to illustrate several prints of small size, 7 cm wide and 14 high, and it's costing me a lot of work to find inspiration. My initial 'Woman in forest' and my final 'Woman in forest', with some branches less and some more tweaks to give.

MIENTRAS VIGILO - While I guard them

Cinco días en casa con mis hijos por gripe y bronquitis. Cinco ilustraciones. Cinco momentos. 
 
Five days at home with my sick children with fever and bronchitis, five illustrations and five times.

Día 1. Ilustración 1. Momento 1: ‘No hay que viajar muy lejos para sentirse en el paraíso’.

Día 2. Ilustración 2. Momento 2: ‘A veces el túnel, se llena de luz. Furtivas miradas’.

Día 3. Ilustración 3. Momento 3: ‘Lo importante es brindar, no importa con qué, sobre todo si el packaging es bonito’. Day 3, illustration 3, moment 3: ‘The important thing is to toast, no matter what, especially if the packaging is nice’.

Día 4. Ilustración 4. Momento 4: ‘Cualquier paraguas es bueno cuando arrecia la lluvia’.

Autobiográficas, puede que sí o no sean. Personales, mucho!. Autobiographical, they may be or no. Personal, a lot!.

MIS CUADERNOS DE BOCETOS, MI DESORDEN ORDENADO - My sketchbooks, my ordered disorder.

Uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco, seis y siete. Siete, ese número tan simbólico es la cantidad de cuadernos de bocetos en los que trabajo a la vez. Parecen muchos, demasiados, yo también lo creo. Si los abrís, dentro estoy y, por supuesto, todos acaban siendo compartidos ;D ¿Me enseñas los tuyos?

One, two, three, four, five, six and seven. Seven, so symbolic number is the number of sketchbooks I work at the same time. They seem many, too many, I think so too. 

‘SEIS MESES, 182 DÍAS’ – ‘SIX MONTHS, 182 DAYS’

No, no es un nuevo balance al estilo del último post de mi blog y sí, es un título, el título de un relato.  

No, it's not a new balance of purposes as I did in my last post and yes,  it is a title, the title of a story (Translation in english, coming son).

‘Seis meses, 182 días' es la historia de:

1/Una mujer, Elena

2/Un teléfono que es descolgado

3/Un mundo que acaba metido en una maleta.

4/Una extraña conversación al aroma de un café

5/Un corazón un poco encorsetado, bastante, mucho!

6/Una experiencia sensorial, muy intensa

7/Unos recuerdos que son sólo suyos

‘Six months, 182 days’ is a story about:

1/One woman, Elena.  2/A phone call.  3/A world that fits in a suitcase.  4/A strange conversation in a cafe.  5/An enclosed heart. 6/An intense sensory experience.  7/Memories that belongs to him.

El final del verano me trajo un maravilloso regalo llamado así: ‘Seis Meses, 182 días’. Su autora es una joven escritora llamada María Cañal Barrera y también es la creadora de Carmen, una novela por entregas fresca, divertida, muy bien escrita, para la que ya realicé unas láminas con motivo de su aniversario.

The end of summer brought me a wonderful gift named 'Six months, 182 days'. Her author is a young writer, María Cañal Barrera, and she is also the creator of Carmen, a fresh, fun and well-written serial novel. I already made a few prints for it on the occasion of its birthday.

En Facebook os enseñé algunos bocetos de mis ilustraciones para ‘Seis Meses, 182 días’ (también aquí, y aquí). Hoy os muestro parte del trabajo final y algunos de sus bocetos.

I showed some sketches of myartwork for 'Six Months, 182 days' on Facebook last year (here, and here too). Today I show you part of the final illustrations and some of my sketches.

‘Seis meses, 182 días’ es mi primera experiencia profesional como ilustradora.  Ha sido un trabajo muy vivido y disfrutado y, contra todo pronóstico, relativamente fácil de realizar.

Aún recuerdo con angustia mi primera infografía para un periódico de mi ciudad. Miedo, temblor al mover el ratón, inseguridad, inexperiencia, un mucho de todo esto. Con ‘Seis Meses, 182 días’ no ha sido así. Todos los dibujos surgieron con fluidez tras una segunda lectura del texto y la mayoría quedaron bocetados durante la primera.

'Six months, 182 days' is my first experience as an illustrator. It has been a very enjoyed work and, against I thought, relatively easy to perform.

I still remember my first information graphics for a newspaper in my city. Fear, trembling while I moved the mouse, insecurity and inexperience. With 'Six Months, 182 days' this has not happened. All drawings emerged after a second reading of the story and most  of them were sketched for the first time.

Y llegados a este punto, sólo me queda añadir, quizás, lo más importante. Lo mejor  de este proyecto no son las ilustraciones, es la historia. Tiene un argumento muy original y está muy bien narrada. Supongo que si la base es de calidad, como en este caso, lo demás viene solo. 

También tengo que agradecer a María Cañal Barrera la libertad total que me ha dado en este encargo. Es un inmenso placer trabajar con clientes que escuchan propuestas de un modo abierto, sin imponer límites, respetando tu hacer. No es lo normal y puede que por ello su ejecución me haya resultado tan fluida y cómoda. Espero repetir pronto esta experiencia. ¡Quiero repetir!

And at this point, I can only add which is perhaps the most important: the best of this project are not the pictures, is the story. It has a very original story, well told, beautifully written. It is a great pleasure to work with clients who hear proposals without imposing limits respecting your work. It is not normal. I hope soon to repeat this experience. I want to repeat!
